Origem Sustentável, the world’s only program to certify ESG practices in companies within the footwear supply chain, recertified eight material suppliers during the 31st edition of INSPIRAMAIS. The certifications were presented yesterday (21) at the FIERGS Events Center in Porto Alegre, RS.
During the ceremony, Silvana Dilly, Superintendent of the Brazilian Association of Companies of Components for Leather, Footwear and Artifacts (Assintecal), emphasized the importance of the certification as a tool for competitiveness, as it provides a key advantage against international competition. “We have a strong commitment to the development of the sector, and we are very proud to have more and more companies certified by Origem Sustentável and using this certification to increase their competitiveness in both the national and international markets,” she said.
The companies recertified at the event were: Cofrag (upgraded from Gold to Diamond), RR Componentes (Diamond), Lev Termoplásticos (Diamond), M3 Tingimentos (Silver), Wolfstore (Silver), Pégasus (Silver), Palmiarte (Silver), and CB Injetados (Silver).
About the Program
Created by Assintecal in partnership with the Brazilian Footwear Industries Association (Abicalçados) in 2013, Origem Sustentável is based on international best practices for sustainability. It follows a set of 104 indicators across five dimensions: economic, environmental, social, cultural, and sustainability management. The certification levels are: Diamond (+80% of indicators met), Gold (+60%), Silver (+40%), and Bronze (+20%). Audits are conducted by independent bodies such as SENAI, SGS, ABNT, Intertek, Bureau Veritas, and DNV. Currently, more than 100 companies in the footwear supply chain are either certified or in the process of certification. Renewals take place every two years.
