With the aim of opening up new opportunities for Brazil and learning about the practices that have made China the world’s largest footwear manufacturing powerhouse, with over 12 billion pairs produced every year (more than 50% of global production), the Brazilian Association of Leather, Footwear and Artifacts Components Companies (Assintecal) is promoting a mission to the Asian giant from September 1st to 12th. From November 10th to 14th, the stop will be in Turkey, a country that has been notable for its growth in footwear consumption and investment in sustainable production. Both initiatives are carried out through Brazilian Materials, a program to support exports in the sector maintained by Assintecal in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil).

Assintecal’s International Market Manager, Luiz Ribas Júnior, says that the Mission to China includes visits to companies in the cities of Shanghai, Quanzhou, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dogguan and Foshan, as well as the All China Leather Exhibition (ACLE), one of the largest trade shows for components and chemicals in the world. According to him, the current expansion of the supply chain, with China as the protagonist, offers an opportunity to transform the country’s footwear industry, strengthening its brand reputation and consolidating global expansion. “We must change the way we view China. Instead of voracious competitors, we need to see opportunities for Brazilian components, not only due to the growth of that market, but also due to the growing concern with sustainability attributes”, says the manager, emphasizing that China plans to develop a modern biomanufacturing industry with a production value of over US$ 140 billion. This will be the second mission to the Asian country in a year. The Mission to China is accepting applications until July 28th, via email relacionamento@assintecal.org.br.

In Turkey, the prospective mission will take place in Istanbul, where technical visits to local factories, meetings with entities representing the sector and the Aysaf fair will take place, which will take place between November 12 and 15. “The objective of the mission is to assess the cultural adaptations and commercial adaptations needed to enter a growing market, which imports more than US$ 100 million in components per year”, explains Ribas Júnior. The deadline for registration is July 31, by email relacionamento@assintecal.org.br.
